The Shire of Ashburton are excited to announce that Eskimo Joe will be head-lining a free community concert in Onslow as part of the Shire’s Eclipse Festival of Events.

Western Australia’s much loved indie rock band, Eskimo Joe, will be headlining the final celebration on Saturday 22 April at Onslow’s Thalanyji Oval.

The Shire of Ashburton is celebrating the 2023 Total Solar Eclipse with a week-long Festival of Events from Saturday 15 April until Saturday 22 April.

Shire of Ashburton President Kerry White acknowledged that the Eclipse has opened up a number of opportunities to the Ashburton region, with Onslow lying just outside the path of totality and the coastal areas around the town to experience a deep partial eclipse of over 99% of the Sun covered.

“We are looking forward to hosting the festival of events and welcoming visitors to our region for the 2023 Total Solar Eclipse”, said Councillor White.

“Events across the week will include a movie night, pool party with live music and food trucks at the Onslow Aquatic Centre, Eclipse viewing and Eclipse Street Party on Thursday 20 April headlined by The Waifs, a family fun day at the Onslow Multipurpose Centre (MPC) and dark sky Astrotourism WA viewing on Friday, concluding with a free concert on Saturday 22 April, featuring Australian favourites Eskimo Joe.

“We have been working closely with the State Government, local businesses, and stakeholders in the build up to this event and are very excited to welcome community members, tourists, families, and dark sky enthusiasts, it is sure to be a fantastic week of festivity.

“With just one month to go, we are excited to announce Saturday’s concert headlined by Eskimo Joe, and supported by Michael Ward, The Flying Submarines, Corey Colum and Band and DJ Selina Murby.

“Saturday’s concert will also feature North West Brewing Co, bar and food service by Onslow Sports Club and an array of food trucks”.
