Swimming & Snorkelling

Karijini National Park is home to spectacular gorges, many of which visitors can swim through. The best swimming destinations in the park include Fortescue Falls and Fern Pool. Both are located in Dales Gorge and have handrails, staircases and clear paths for easy access. For more information on gorges and where to swim in Karijini, visit our Gorges page.

The best place for a dip at Millstream Chichester National Park would be Deep Reach and Python Pools. Python Pool is easily accessible by road and offers a cool refreshing rock pool to swim in located among ancient, rugged cliffs. Deep Reach Pool is a peaceful place for a swim, but as this site is sacred to the Yindjibarndi people, please keep noise to a minimum.

Mackerel Islands is a pristine playground for those who love to swim and snorkel. The remote location of the islands means the marine life is largely untouched. Snorkelling gear can be hired from the island, and visitors can witness spectacular fish and coral right from the coast.

Onslow is also home to some great swimming beaches, with Sunrise and Sunset Beach being the most popular.
